Got me thinking,...

This morning, on the way home after Kindermusik with Grady, I was listening to the Catholic Channel on XM.  I am not a dedicated listener or anything, but do enjoy some of their programming.  There is one show called 'The Catholics Next Door' which I really like.  They are a husband and wife hosting team talking about everyday "normal" stuff.  They recently had their fifth child and so lately, the husband has been hosting alone.  Next week his parents are scheduled to help him out, we will see what he has to say then!  Anyway, he was talking about Lincoln's birthday and wondering what his school-age children were going to be taught in school about slavery, and he correlated that with abortion, ie a slave didn't choose to be a slave, neither did an aborted child.  Abortion is one thing that I am kinda not so sure about.  Yes, I believe God's children all have the right to life.  I just don't know it is any one's right to tell someone what they can and can not do with their own reproductive system.  I would never dream of having an abortion myself, but if a woman was raped and the product of that rape is a child... I could not imagine carrying a child of rape in my womb for nine months.  It would be like relieving that nightmare time and time again, day in and day out.  Back to the show... a caller brought another correlation to the table. Foster care.  Children in foster care didn't choose to be there either. We need to care for them as much as we do for the children whose mothers may be considering abortion.  This man has had 88 children in his home over the last 18 years, while raising his own family with six children.  He formally adopted 9 of the 88.  WOW!!  I had tears driving down the road.  What an incredible person he is for his dedication to the children of our world.  Because of him, those 88 children had at least a glimmer of hope and a glimpse of what "normal" is.  Incredible.
