Do you ever gave those days (or weeks) that feel like slow motion? Like it will never end but then it doesn't even feel real anyway? Last week was like that for me. Started off fine on Monday, Tuesday was a crash and burn, and Wednesday wasn't much better. Picked up a little on Thursday and Friday, but still surreal. It was one of the hardest weeks of my life.
So, we decided to go to south GA for some away from life time. Picked up G from school on Friday around lunch time and headed to Milledgeville to stay at D's brother's lake house. On the way we stopped at this cool place in Forsyth that sells used hotel furniture. Some of it was trash, but a surprising amount was actually nice. They had mirrors, artwork, furniture, bedding, window treatments, lamps, etc. Beautiful armoires for $299, sleeper sofas for $199, chairs for $79, artwork as little as $19 - and a good chunk of this stuff came from the Ritz ! Only cash though, and we had like $40. *sigh* We will be back though. There was an a-m-a-z-i-n-g console table that needed a new granite top but was obviously VERY nice. If only I had a place for it!
We got to the lake late Friday afternoon. Gorgeous day! We had a blast - G loved the sand, the vast expanse of green grass to run on, the dogs next door (one dog liked to play fetch into the water, many giggles from that!) and playing with cousin M's toys. The toys of a seven year old are way cooler than G's at home!
D had a meeting Saturday morning, so G & I hung out at the house and played. Played so hard that he took an early nap! yippee! then we went to see our newly married niece and her new house, and her FIVE dogs! G loved them - played ball with them and chased them and tried to hug them. They are sweet but considerably bigger than him... four labs and a pretty little mutt.
Sunday, we slept in a little and then went to visit more family. D's brother's first wife and her husband (I know!).... and their great Dane! he is HUGE but G loved him too!! It was great to see them & catch up with them.
Now we are home, and I have every intention of making this week much better than last week. After all, I had a great start with the weekend of relaxing with my precious family.
(By the way, regarding the photo above.... G doesn't normally eat powdered sugar donuts, but Daddy loves them so G does too... hysterical!)
