Time Flies....

Wow! I can't believe that it has been so verrrrrry long since I have posted anything to my blog. My last post was such a downer that I guess I was less than inspired to share anything. Oh, well. I am not sure where to start, so there may be no chronological order to this post... and I may have to come back and make some additions.

First thing first, I am pregnant. Took the test in late January. I seriously thought that I was barely pregnant. But at my first OBGYN appointment, they told me that I was already 9 weeks (due late Sept). We were pretty surprised. We had a small gathering of family and friends for G's 3rd birthday in early February. I made him a shirt that said "big brother" on the back and let him open it as one of his birthday gifts. Some people were confused, one person screamed with excitement, and my mom said, "so, it is a boy." Good times.

G is excited about being a big brother, but he really wants a baby girl. We shall see, as we are not finding out the gender of this child. If he gets a baby boy, I have a lot of explaining to do! G will look in my belly button to try to see the baby and he talks through my belly button, like it is a mega horn - which is getting shallower by the day, so those talks/looks may be numbered!

I felt fine until the last couple of months. Some advice - NEVER plan a pregnancy with your last trimester during the dog days of summer. Awful. I can't have the house cool enough, I can't have enough fans on me, nor can I eat enough ice cream. Now, I am ready for this baby to be out! The grinding on my pelvis, the heartburn, the sleepless nights, the frequent trips to the potty and the back pain are all reaching my limits. I realize that there is just one baby in there and I shouldn't complain, but count my blessings,.... I just have a hard time doing that when the disco party in my belly keeps me up all night. But soon, hopefully sooner rather than later.....

D received an incredible honor in February - he was a recipient of the Heart of the Community award. This award recognizes community service above and beyond, and he is so deserving! I am so proud of him. He was honored at a black tie affair and received a bronze statue and cool medal. He looked dashing in his tux!

We have been plucking away at the new law firm. Busy, busy. In June, D was appointed a Municipal Court judge, so that has been taking a lot of his time lately. Trying to get in the groove of sole practice and judge has been a balancing act for both of us.

I have been working for D part time, which means my laundry is sort of caught up and my house is sort of clean. But I have also been busy serving on a couple of boards, leading a bible study for the ladies at my Catholic church, and member of two book clubs. I will post my book list later (right now I can only remember a handful of books I have read, blame the pregnancy brain!).

We have taken some short trips with friends and family, but we are trying to concentrate on D's work so vacations are on the back burner. G & I went with my mom on a short trip to visit some south Alabama friends and family. We packed a lot into 5 days but it was fun. G & I also went to FL with some friends for a week poolside and beach cruising. At that point, the miseries of pregnancy were starting to show their head, so I was eager to get home and back to "normal."

Well, I know that there is more to post but honestly, I can barely remember what I ate for breakfast today. Maybe some more will come to me, and maybe I will have the time to post!
