Progress on Bookin' It

Although I have been a wee bit distracted the last month or so and I have not read as much as I would like... I have completed several books.
  1. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society - I loved this. Fictional story told through a series of letters about the occupation of one of the islands in the English channel during WWII. I love historical fiction, and this was fresh way of telling it.
  2. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret - I don't remember reading this as a kid, but I did enjoy it as an adult. And I read it while G was napping which was great.
  3. Night - Probably should have been on the assigned list as school, a real classic (again) about WWII, told from a survivor who lost his family and his faith at the concentration camp. A "revised" translation by his daughter, makes me wonder how it differs from the original translation.
  4. The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch - Thought provoking and tear inducing. Life lessons from a man dying of cancer: for his children, his students, his wife and the rest of the world. Fantastic.
So these I am working on....
  1. Captivating (for a bible study group) by John &Stasi Eldredge - we have taken the month of July off, but we are about half way through. I don't like it that much, though.
  2. Crazy Love by Francis Chan - currently about halfway through. Love, love, love this book. Makes you really think about your impact on this earth and takes a hard look at your faith. Examines "religious complacency" and the universal God. Love, love, love it.
  3. Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett - obviously saving the longest for last. Or you can call it procrastinating.
