Sock It To Ya

I love the dollar aisle at Target. Awesome treats for little dude and his daddy. :) A few months ago, they had a whole bin of toddler socks with characters on them. I may have gotten one of each in G's size. We have Elmo, Lightening McQueen, Tow Mater, Cookie Monster, Mike & Sully from Monsters, Inc and MANY more.

For a long time G was a big fan of the Sully & Mike socks. The Mike socks are neon green and have one big eyeball on each sock. The Sully socks are bright pink to highlight the lovely turquoise of Sully's fur (D hates this particular pair). He wore them constantly, even though they were intended as bedtime socks. He has also started wanted a pair on his hands as well - really attractive & interesting when we are out to dinner or something.

Lately, he has fallen for the movie The Incredibles and he has two pair of Incredible socks. I hide them. This morning, as we were trying to get out the door, he found ONE blue Mr Incredible sock. He insisted, at first, to wear in on his hand to school. About half way to school, he changed his mind and removed one shoe and almost one sock. When I pulled in the parking lot he was crying, pulling on that sock, trying to get it off. He wanted to wear the Mr Incredible sock. Lovely. So, I helped him take off the nice, clean white sock and then helped him put on the blue & red Mr Incredible sock. He was so proud walking into school this morning - one white sock and one Mr Incredible sock!

G may be two, but he definitely has an interesting sense of style (he also is a fan of his rainboots and Elmo slippers). And I think that he may also have my fierce independence. Who knows what he will assert his independence on next?!?!

Footnote (pun intended): G came home from school still wearing the mismatched socks,... and later tried on my shoes too.
